Supporting Strength: Chantal’s Journey Back to Competition
Chantal is pure sunshine, an incredible athlete, and the kind of person who makes you want to cheer her on from the moment you meet her. Her energy is contagious, her passion is undeniable, and her story is one that reminds you what can happen when you refuse to give up on yourself. From the very beginning, we were drawn to her journey, not just because of what she has accomplished in Strongman, but because of the determination, heart, and hard work she brings to everything she does.
Chantal found her way into Strongman later in life, after spending years rebuilding herself and finding her strength in a whole new way. Since then, she has continued to push herself, challenge expectations, and show others what is possible when you commit to something you love. She is a huge advocate for women in sports and leads by example, inspiring the people around her to believe in themselves and go after their own goals. Perhaps one of the most special parts of her story is that her daughter has now followed in her footsteps, training and competing right alongside her. There is something pretty incredible about watching a passion turn into something that can be shared across generations.
What makes Chantal’s dedication stand out even more is everything she manages to balance outside of competition. Working 12-hour shifts at a mine site is no small feat, and after a long day of work, most people would be more than ready to call it a night. Chantal, however, often heads straight to the site gym to get her training in. She finds ways to keep moving forward, whether that means rotating through her accessory work while living at camp or getting in full Strongman training sessions when she is back in her hometown, Kapuskasing. She has built her training around a demanding work schedule without letting it become a reason to stop chasing her goals. That kind of consistency takes a special level of commitment, and it says a lot about the person she is.
Like any athlete who pushes their limits, Chantal has also had to navigate setbacks along the way. This year, an injury forced her to step away from training and take the time she needed to get proper treatment. For someone who is used to showing up, putting in the work, and constantly pushing forward, being sidelined is never easy. Fortunately, she had a team in her corner to help her through it. While working on site, our therapists, Rodney and Maysen, took the time to understand the demands of Strongman and what Chantal needed to get back to doing what she loves. They worked together to develop a plan that considered both sides of her life, recognizing that she is not only a miner working long, physically demanding shifts, but also an athlete with big goals and a platform to get back to.
With the right support and a plan tailored to her needs, Chantal was able to work toward getting back into the gym and competing again. And if her results this year are any indication, that determination never left her. In July, she stepped onto the platform at the Provincial Strongman Championship and took first place, earning the title of Strongest Master Heavyweight Woman in Ontario. She then went on to compete at the Strongman Canada National Championship in Quebec City, where she finished as the 4th Strongest Master Open Woman in Canada. These are incredible accomplishments on their own, but knowing everything she worked through to get there makes them that much more meaningful.
And Chantal is far from finished. Her next challenge is Static Monsters in February 2027, and Mynwell is proud to sponsor her journey and support her as she continues to see just how far she can go. We are excited to be part of what comes next and to cheer her on every step of the way.
Chantal’s story is a reminder that strength is about so much more than what you can lift. It is about showing up when you are tired, finding a way forward when things do not go as planned, and continuing to make time for the things that matter to you, even when life gets busy. It is also a reminder of how important it is to have people around you who see the whole person, understand your goals, and help you get back to doing what you love.
We are incredibly proud of Chantal, not only for what she has accomplished on the platform, but for the passion, resilience, and positivity she brings to everything she does. She has already shown us what is possible when you keep the promises you make to yourself, and we cannot wait to see what she accomplishes next.
We’re proud of you, Chantal. Keep doing your thing. On to the next one!
